IDENTITY THEFT WARNING
This Is A Special Identity Theft Warning To Help Stear You Away From Fraudulent Companies That May Offer "Good Sounding" Service But Are Designed To Get Your Information And Actually Steal Your Identity
ALWAYS stay with a well known, established, proven, trusted company. Identity Theft Protection is a great service that brings security and peace of mind, if it is with the right company. I personally have identity protection coverage due to being victimized in the past by identity theft. Other family members have it as well. Just be sure you use a LEGITIMATE company.

There are several well-established companies listed on the
ID Protection Services
page. The following list contains some of the top legitimate companies, like LoudSiren, Debix, TrustedID, LifeLock, and Identity Guard. These companies have a proven track record and they do what they say. DO NOT USE companies that are not well-known, proven, or established. ALWAYS check out any company with the Better Business Bureau and rely on testimonies from people you know!
Be very suspicious of companies that offer to do all that the leading companies do, but for a fraction of the cost. Many of these companies claim to provide the exact services as those listed above for only $1.99 per month, or something similar. Often these companies do not reveal who they are or where they are located. You need to be very careful and choose only reputable companies.

ID Theft Company Steals Identities
A company called "Identity Theft Protection Services" claims to protect people from identity theft. They actually steal your personal information.
Kristy Patterson noticed hundreds of dollars had been taken out of her account without her knowledge. "I probably would have never caught it if I hadn't doubled up on my bills last month to have a free month for December to buy a nice Christmas," said Patterson.
The company had been debiting $31.98 out of her account at least twice a month for 11 months. By the time she realized it, they had already taken $700 from her account.
"It may not be alot for alot of people, but to me 700 dollars would buy 2 or 3 really nice gifts for my kids at Chrsitmas. It would have been nice to have that extra money to spend on them."
Their website does not say where they are located or what they are about. It does give you the option of closing your membership with your checking account number.
The Better Business Bureau found that the company named "Identity Theft Protection Services" has a failing rating.
In July, the Federal Trade Commission also filed a complaint against them.
The B-B-B says the company has at least 30 other names.
